Celica GT4 progress

The Celica hasn’t really don’t much lately as I handed it over to my trusted paint shop for them to work their magic.

It’s been a while since any work was actually carried out on it and for a while, I got a little exasperated by it and needed a break. I hurt my back leaning over and stretching the wrong way (over 40 now….!) so since then I have been focusing on health and fitness a bit more to get in shape.

Anyway,  the Celica was stripped back to bare metal and it was actually in great shape with only 2 little points of interest:

A previous weld repair to drivers door (so smooth you couldn’t tell with paint)

Also, a rusty bit in the rear drivers wheel arch near the mud flap.

The body shop quickly cropped this and welded in new metal and got the car coated in etch primer. They also gave me a list of various small items that broke during the strip down. It turns out, little bits of trim and other associated body parts are becoming INCREDIBLY difficult to source. So far the parts and logistics has meant buying parts fro. Japan, Australia and even the Middle East to try and find the right part to get it back to factory like new.

So far, the body shop has identified about different colours of the same paint code so we are going to make a final decision soon and get the car coated in some colour.
