Tuesday, 26 October 2010. Atmospheric dump valve

As you can see from the picture , the standard STi recirculation type Blow Off Valve was first to be replaced.
Since this was my first turbocharged engine, I wanted that “Whoosh” or chirp, every time I changed gear at full boost. I decided to go for a Bailey DV12 dump valve as it was designed as a perfect fit, and bolts directly to the stock intercooler in place of the original BOV.
After removing 2 bolts and the vacuum hose from the top of the original BOV, I bolted the Bailey item in place and used the supplied bung to plug the factory recirculation pipe from the BOV discharge, back to the turbo inlet. This only involved a pair of pliers to remove the snap ring on the pipe so put the bung in place. After a quick to check all was secure, I took the car for a quick spin to make sure all was well.
