The build process so far

Well the car is in the worksop getting the parts fitted, so here a few spy shots as the build continues.

Above is a pic of the actual turbocharger itself

Here is the complete in the box just delivered showing the downpipe to the exhaust from the turbo, the up-pipe that the turbo sits on and the intake and various bits of air pipework for fitting in place.

Here is the external wastegate fitted to the up-pipe, with its own screamer pipe. This should help control the boost pressure and vent any excess exhaust gas from the turbo to atmosphere.

A shot of the turbocharger in place, with the silicone hose connections and no intake fitted.

The impeller of the turbo

The ball bearing turbo with the oil feed pipe connected. Its both water and oil cooled which helps prevent the bearings over heating and "coking" up.

You can see from above that the turbo sits on a rotated mount to allow fitment in the available space just above where the stick turbo would sit.

The holes around the intake prevent "surging" of the impeller and assist in air flow through the turbo.

Here is the engine with no turbo fitted....pretty complicated stuff!

The downpipe and exhaust, just in need of a another bent pipe section to finally connect the two pieces.  As with any modification, there is a lot of custom machine work and fabrication involved. Also the turbo kit was designed in the USA, so naturally there will be a difference in fitment for left and right hand drive models.

The shot above shows the last time the car was in getting the intercooler fitted, which again involves a lot of custom fabrication of hard piping and connector pieces.

The only thing that remains now is for the ECU to be fitted and the car to be set up and a final fuel map setup on the rolling road.
