Well I got my old "broken calliper" back with the new pads and installed them in 10 minutes. After that, I then took a measurement of the bolts spaces and marked up the old calliper where the weld repair was carried out. I then centre punched and drilled e pilot hole, then used increasingly larger drill bits until I reached the maximum side, that was supplied with the Helicoil kilt.
After drilling out, I used the supplied tap to put a thread in the hole. Next up, I used the special tool that was supplied with the kit to screw in the helicoil insert into the thread.
Once the insert is in place, you simply use the punch to break the end off the insert and thats it! You can insert the bolt into your new M10 thread! I now have spare calliper on the shelf should I need it!
After test driving the car, there were a few squeaks as the new pads bedded in, but after that, the breaks feel more responsive and its good to know that the fluids have been flushed as well. So Ill have to give the car a wash and get it ready for the paint shop next week...
