Well I managed to pick up a bargain on a used calliper from www.japperformanceparts.co.uk and it was delivered in less than 24 hrs! A new record!!
So I basically used the supplied high tensile bolts, cleaned the threads, sprayed some Copaslip onto them and install back in place with the old pads so that I could then bleed the lines.
I used DOT 5.1 brake fluid and opened the brake fluid reservoir then my father sat in the drivers seat and pumped the brake while I bled the air out of the calliper, starting with the inner nipple first, then the outer nipple. As it was such a straight forward job, I flushed all the other callipers and topped up the reservoir in between so that the new 5.1 fluid flushed through the lines and you could see the old fluid flow into my brake bleeding kit until fresh, clean oil could be seen. I then closed the bleeder valve and double checked each calliper so that all nipples had dust covers back on and the bolts were tight.
Lastly I used some break cleaner to clean any fluid off each calliper and disc.
The car is still on axle stands until I get the new pads back from my friends who is kindly welding up the old, damaged calliper. By using the old pads, I was able to bleed the lines and get the car ready, so with luck in a day or two, I can drop the new pads in and get it down to the paint shop.
Plus a random shot using my new 50mm prime lens on the camera....
