Track day exploits

Unfortunately the drag day didn't go well from the first race.

The car died in first gear of the first launch and this was quickly to become a trend in every pull.

I kept throwing an E-throttle code error (69) on the ECU. After reading the manual in the pit lane, I called it a day to prevent doing unnecessary damage.

After reseting the ECU, the car drove perfect and it was only flat out at 100% throttle when the car went into limp mode.

After getting home, a friend, Peter, kindly helped to get to the route of the problem.....there was a voltage difference between the 2 outputs from the TPS; throttle position sensor. Once the ECU detects a percentage difference, over 2 seconds, it puts the car into limp mode as it is a safety feature. Should the drive by wire throttle fail, then its the ECU's plan to kill power.

After a lot of testing on the driveway at home, I changed the deviation % value from 0.1 to 1.5% and this cleared the fault, under full throttle.

I could test by leaving the ECU and laptop on, but only at ignition position one, without the engine running, then moving the accelerator pedal fully down and holding. The fault always cam after 2 seconds and the limp mode activated. After changing the deviation, it never came back.

The deviation does seem to have an effect on the error signal so perhaps the throttle body motor is slower to react over time and is slowly beginning to malfunction, or perhaps, the ECU setting wasn't adjusted at initial setup, as I did have this problem last year, but assumed it was a boos cut or something, however I didn't have the laptop then!!

With no error lights activating on the dash, its a tricky one without the G4 software.

Its impossible to safely test the car on the road so Ill have to wait for the next track day, but simulating the test with ignition off gave the necessary result!

I guess this is the joys of owning a modified car!!!
