Machine shop

Since splitting and cleaning the block, I noticed that there were some cracks around the top of the liners, so I took the block to the machine shop to see what they could suggest.

So far, the plan I have decided upon is to machine out the top of the liners and have cast steel liners inserted. These will let me run serious boost pressure once complete and have a similar power level to a closed deck block. The closed deck block wasn't an option a the liners are cracked so there is no point in stalling them. It would cost around £2000 all in to go that route. With the cast sleeves, it will replace the liners and take the bore back to stick 99.5mm size and retain the current block.

So far, so good. Im also going to have them check the crank and polish it if possible. Finally, supply a set of pistons and hone the new liners to suit. I haven't decided on the pistons exact spec, but considering Omega/Cosworth or something similar.
