I hope you have a great start to the new year, Im just writing this while offshore, so no beer for me!
I decided over Christmas several keys points about the Hawkeye build, since the engine blowing up:
I decided over Christmas several keys points about the Hawkeye build, since the engine blowing up:
- There is a lot of interest in the car for spare parts, but just not enough to make it financially viable to break for spares.
- Im fed up waiting on the machine shop to even quote me a price to fix the liners on my block. 4 months and no quote....seriously? Even after me offering to pay on varies times? I know they are busy but come on....
- I need to get the engine built. Im getting married soon and terrified the car will become one of those "Barn finds" that gets forgotten about for 20yrs, then Ill never have the time or money to finish.
- The engine needs built now.
- A project car will cause you immense joy and immense stress and financial cost. Im feeling the cost and the stress, so bring on the Joy 2017.
Therefore, I sent a few emails to other companies for quotes for closed deck blocks. I want to start fresh.
As a commitment before the end of the new year, I started parts buying. I got a totally bargain for £50 delivered on eBay, for an AVCS left hand inlet cam pulley.
Why? Because when I had to use the socket and welder to get the cam bolt off, it managed to damage the inner liner of where the O Ring sits. I didn't want to run the risk of oil under pressure then leaking out of the cam pulley once the engine was back in. For 50 quid, it would be stupid to take such a big risk with an old part!
