Big progress Day 8

After a few boxes of parts arrived, I was able to make some serious progress in one day.

Head gaskets went on, then the heads could be installed and torqued down. Instead of following the Subaru manuals torque sequence, I had to specifically follow the ARP guidelines as Im reusing my ARP 2000 head bolts. Its critical that the threads are cleaned and ARP torque lube applied so that the exact torque on the bolts can be applied.

After tightening the bolts in alphabetical sequence, in 3 stages, the head was secure and the camshafts and seals could be installed.

The same process was repeated on the other head and now the engine is starting to look like its old self again.

Next job is to install water crossover pipes, manifold and wiring loom, then all the extra small bits. Finally the cutch and flywheel can go on and its ready to drop in the car!
