Cleaning

I'm still waiting for my bucket shims to arrive and unfortunately running out of free time to do the work so I have been trying to do a few jobs the opposite way round to save time in the long run.

I managed to bolt the new flywheel and clutch on to the engine, but unfortunately it didn't fit on the engine stand once all bolted up. I found it easier to take the clutch and clutch cover back off, and at least leave the flywheel in place. The engine needs to be back o the stand so I can install the shims after, then bolts on all the ancillaries before dropping it in the bay.

I managed to lock the flywheel in place using a piece of metal between the bell housing and flywheel teeth so I could torque the bolts down.

To save a bit of time, I cleaned up the gearbox bell housing as well, to remove all the old clutch dust and grease. It was pretty filthy!!

I greased up the release fork and all the splines on the gear box shaft ready for the release bearing to go on. No point in leaving it fitted and exposed to the elements until ready to fit the engine.
