So after some running in, I decided to check ECU software and make sure that the MAP limits were lowered to 1.4 Bar before letting the turbo spool a little.
The last time I had a decat fitted, the turbo took off and destroyed the engine. Turns out, there were no MAP limits to kill the fuel if the car over boosted.
I set everything up, checked the settings twice to be sure, then gave its some boost. The car spooled well, but so quickly right up to 1.4 Bar and hit Ignition cut.
After a lot of head scratching, my friend helped and we narrowed it down from my hand scrawl diagram of my vacuum hose setup. Turns out, the boost solenoid was working in reverse and was plumbed in the wrong way.
The solenoid was trying to give full boost at 0% duty cycle!!!
During the fault finding, I did have some fun by only plumbing in the boost pressure to the lower port on the external watergate. This allowed me to run spring pressure only and I got 1.1 Bar pressure. You could hear the screamer pipe and the anti lag was shockingly loud without the catalytic converter! People backed off and changed lanes to get away from my bumper, so I can only assume there were a few flames.
The next digram shows how it should be!! Ill get on to plumbing this in tomorrow. I think Ill sleep well tonight knowing a major hurdle has been crossed.
