I decided to remove the old Japanese radio from the MR2 yesterday, mainly because it has an extremely bright screen that is too intrusive at night. Also, it doesn't look good in the interior and was a horrible bright grey in comparison to the dark MR2 interior/dash.
After removing the centre console, I was able to remove not only the head unit but a lot of unused wiring and even some cables that must have been part of an entertainment system that is long since missing.
I was then able to strip strip the wires that had been connected to the original radio harness using the horrible Japanese quick connectors and then repair the insulation. This means that I can now buy a Uk radio and also ISO adaptor and it will be plug and play.
