One of the jobs on my wordlist has been to help a friend restore his MX5.
Its a UK spec car with about 80k miles on the clock. Once we jacked it up, there was a lot of chassis rust and the MOT had flagged a hole in the exhaust. As soon as we started it up, I could feel a blow out and the pipe actually fell off in my hand.
We decided to treat all the rust and under seal the chassis and sub frame to help reserve the life of the car.
We also replaced the exhaust back box/muffler with a gorgeous looking new unit, plus we are waiting on a mid pipe to remove the secondary cat. What a job (about 4hrs) of cutting and drilling to remove one bolt from the downpipe.....but it was worth it. We even managed to fit a new auxiliary belt.
Next up is the gearbox and engine oil change.
