So I have gone a little crazy of late, ordering some new parts for upgrades and routine services.
Apart from the exhaust and decat that are waiting to be fitted to the MR2, I have also gone ahead and ordered new spark plugs, a new distributor, and all the O Rings required to freshen and tune up the ignition system. I dont know when these were last changed by the previous Japanese owner. Its in the cars history file, but its impossible to decipher!!
Anyway, if I plan to increase the boost, I want all the core systems in perfect condition first.
I also received an email that the Apexi boost solenoid has been delayed by the manufacturer in Japan, as its a rare part and now made to order. In the mean time, its a good chance to tune up before the power hike!
I also got a bit nostalgic for the 90's and decided to order a "TOMS" racing style intake scoop for the turbo. I know there is a lot of hate for these on the forums, however, personal taste is the key and I have loved the design since I saw it in Max Power magazine around 20yrs ago.
In theory it should force a lot of cold air into the turbos intake filter area of the engine bay when cruising along. It will be interesting to see if the average intake air temperature of the inlet air drops using this.
