I decided to change the plugs to day on the MR2..... just another one of the small jobs on the list that NEEDS done. After pulling the old plugs, I was glad I did! They were seriously black, showing jsut how rich the engine was running. Also, there was a lot of wear on the tips, so a sign that they had been in there for a while. It was noticeable when compared to a new plug. Told ones had a flat tip compared with the new plugs and their nice pointy end to the tip.
It took around an hour to do, as you need to remove the HT wire cover which keeps all the HT wires neat across the cam cover.
To reach one of the cylinders, it's a little fiddly and you need to remove the intercooler cold pipe to the throttle body to gain access.
After that, its jsut a matter of "gapping" the plugs to spec and installing. They measured at 0.73mm gap. Strangely the new plugs came pre-gapped and actually matched the old ones well!
Before installing the IC Pipe I gave it a quick sand down and clean to give it a god shine. Its now really noticeable compared to the Hot pipe beside it!
