Type RA is here

After a few months of waiting, the car is here. Alan, at Import wizards, kindly delivered the car to my door.

Its is as close to factory stock as you could get.

After giving the car its first wash, it's clear that there is lacquer peel on several panels and small pin dents and scrapes. However, all of these were detailed on the auction sheet/translation so I knew what I was getting.

I spent today getting the car on the ramp and having a look underneath. Its spotless! It looks like the previous owner replaced the entire exhaust from the manifold right back!

There is not a single rust spot anywhere. The original chassis is in clean condition and no damage/accident history. I had a good look about and its obvious that the previous Japanese owner kept it mechanically perfect.

I used the google translate app to covert a few of the stickers on the car. The service sticker shows a history in Hiroshima so it looks like its from that region.

Interior is clean an no rips. The average seat wear appears to match the mileage of 170k kms. The car has clearly been driven and enjoyed but at hte same time, really well cared for.

I quickly did an oil change and put some fresh fuel in the tank, then gave the battery a charge. The engine is free roving and no hydraulic tappet noise that can be expected from the version 6 engines sometimes when tappet clearances aren't adjusted with age.

The engine also has a lovely whistle from the turbo....something I have not heard on a classic GC8 chassis so it will be interesting to see how she drives. Im currently adding MPH stickers to the speedo and also fitting a rear fog light to enable me to pass the UK mot.

All round, Im glad I bought it!
